Today is Midsummer's Eve, one of Britt's favorite days. She liked to be outside for as much of the daylight as possible and on into the night. In years past she'd have a bonfire and invite her friends to hang out and dance and sing and celebrate the changing of the seasons and the coming of the longest day of the year. It's going to be a very long day in more ways than one, I think, and one that requires keeping busy.
I've mowed the grass in the back yard (what's left of it) and done a little weeding and trimming in the places the mower won't go. I've taken some pictures to document the eggplants that are forming now that they can breathe and the pepper that's growing and growing but refusing to turn red. Also the second set of peas which are beginning to sprout, right on schedule. (Still amazed by that, I am.)
Also, for those of you who are far away - which I think might be everyone except my mama - (Hi, Mommy!) here's a short video tour of the backyard. It's not fancy, but it's home and I love it.

Thank you for the tour, dear -- it's nice to see where you are. Midsummer Eve here is rain, rain, and more rain. My back yard looks like a soggy jungle.
It's about a 100 degrees here right now...I don't even want to know what the 'heat index' is. At this point, hot is hot. I keep wandering around the yard though, and then coming back in to cool off.
what a sweet tour. I definitely got a better sense of the layout - so cool to be able to picture it better, you know? It's rain rain rain here too - I think I actually made a good call with the container gardens this year since they can get rid of the excess water a little better than plants in the ground can.
What a treat to hear your voice! Like Cara & Lisa said, it's nice to have a sense of where you are. (and I love the interjection "Lawnmower!" every time the camera panned past.)
Oh, that made me laugh, Lysne. Y'all know I was excited to finally get a lawnmower and be able to do the grass myself. (And, really, the front and side yards are big and are covered with grass and need a lot of mowingn). But, I have to tell you, I thought I was saying "lawnmower!" in my head while I was filming. I didn't realize I'd said it out loud until I uploaded the video and previewed it before I posted.
Some sort of deranged,lawnmower-inspired Tourette's? I have no clue. It cracks me up every time I watch it. :)
